Crossing the Zaragoza Bridge: full guide

The Zaragoza Bridge, officially the Zaragoza-Ysleta International Bridge, sits on the east side of Ciudad Juárez and connects to east El Paso. It is the preferred crossing for people who live or work on that side of town and for anyone looking to avoid downtown congestion. It runs 24 hours a day and includes a SENTRI lane and a pedestrian crossing.

Best times to cross the Zaragoza Bridge

Zaragoza usually moves better than the downtown bridges, but it has its peak hours too. Northbound lines grow on weekday mornings from 6 to 9 a.m. with commuter traffic, and on Sunday afternoons. The fastest crossings are typically weekday mid-mornings and early afternoons, plus overnight. Thanks to its east-side location, it is often the best way to skip the lines at Santa Fe and Puente Libre. Confirm the live wait time above before you decide.

    SENTRI and Ready Lane

Zaragoza has a SENTRI lane, the fastest way to cross if you are enrolled in the trusted-traveler program, along with regular lanes and a pedestrian crossing. For frequent east-side crossers, getting SENTRI or a Ready Lane document makes a big daily difference, since those lanes are often just a few minutes even when the regular lanes are full.

    Getting there and toll

The Zaragoza Bridge runs along Boulevard Zaragoza and feeds into Zaragoza Road on the El Paso side, near the Ysleta area. It is a toll bridge, so have your payment ready for the booth. If your destination is in east El Paso, this crossing usually beats driving all the way down to downtown.
